Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. and Michael Jan Stephen Rosalem Inigo delivered the twin wins in the 2-1 demolition of the GM Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. chess team against the Antipolo City, Rizal chess team in the first round. The 13-time Philippine Open Champion Antonio, playing black, won over Fide Master Christopher Castellano of the London System skirmish while Inigo downed Sonny dela Rosa in another London System. Genghis Katipunan Imperial toppled Drigo Teves of Irregular Opening to prevent a possible shut out loss of the Antipolo City, Rizal chess team in the event back up by Extreme Gaming, Luminuex Glutathione Capsule and businessman Changsuk Lyu, organized by United States chess master Rodolfo "Jun" Panopio Jr. In the second round, Antonio crushed National Master Jojo Aquino of French defense. Teves handed the black pieces and held a draw with Rodney Opada in a London System Opening. Inigo, secured the key draw with Vic Artieda to put the team in a favorable 2-1 score. Meanwhile, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal Chess Team of Kapitana Mayet Hernandez represented by Joshua Michael Yongco, Esmael Abas and Marc G.
