Dableo, Racasa, Claros face tough competition in Angeles chess meet By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 24 Aug 2022 MANILA--International Master Ronald Dableo, Woman National Masters Antonella Berthe Racasa and April Joy Claros expect rough sailing in the Angeles City FIDE Rated Chess Festival where they will be meeting a tough line of competitors on September 10, 2022 at Marquee Mall Activity Center in Angeles City, Pampanga. "We invite all chess players and enthusiasts to one of the biggest Chess Tournaments hosted by the Angeles City LGU," said National Arbiter Jose Fernando "Fer" Camaya. "The Angeles City FIDE Rated Chess Festival to be held at Marquee Mall Activity Center. Angeles City Sports Office in partnership with International Development Industrial Foundation, Inc. bring you this chess tournament which is also sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)," he added. “It will be a very tough match against the Bulacan and Pampanga chess players. Not to be outdone are players from the nearby provinces as well from Metro Manila," said Dableo, who is best to remember winning the Asian 3.2a Zonal Chess Championships in Vungtau, Vietnam. The Open individual chess tournament, backed by Angeles City mayor Carmelo G. Lazatin Jr. offers P20,000 plus a trophy to the champion. The second placer will earn P10,000 plus a trophy, third will get P7,000 plus a trophy while fourth and fifth placers will take home P4,000 and P3,000, respectively. Sixth to 10th placers will receive P2,000 each, 11th to 13th placers will bring home P1,000 each while 14th to 15th placers will not go empty handed with P500 each. Special category prizes P2,000 each for the top Women, Senior, College Male Player and College Female Player. The top 3 (three) Angelenos awaits P2,500, P2,000 and P1,500, respectively. Bannering the local challenge in the tournament are Tiv Omangay, Louie Nisperos, Kristoff Bautista, Zaldy Donato, Marcus Paruli, Andrei Bunagan and Lester Jones Paruli. NCFP Director F/Chief Superintendent Jonas R. Silvano will make an appearance as the guest speaker in the formal opening of the said chessfest while International Arbiter Patrick Lee was the chief arbiter in the tournament which aims to promote chess in the grass roots level and discover future chess talents.
