MANILA---Filipino International Master Oliver Dimakiling remained undefeated and continued to roll in the ongoing Grand Copthorne Professor Lim Kok Ann Invitational GM Tournament 2022 in Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Singapore.

Fresh off a sweeping game against Vietnamese Grandmaster Nguyen Anh Dung in the first round Monday and Singaporean Woman Grandmaster Gong Qianyun in the second round Tuesday, the Davao City native Dimakiling notched his third-straight win after beating Australian International Master IM James Morris in the third round Tuesday afternoon session.

Singapore's newly minted GM Tin Jingyao defeated compatriot Singaporean International Master Jagadeesh Siddharth to boost his total to 3.0 points and catched up with Dimakiling.

Dimakiling will be playing against Tin Jingyao for the battle of solo leadership board in the fourth round Wednesday.
Tin Jingyao, earlier beat Indian Grandmaster Adhiban B. and Indonesian International Master Irine Kharisma Sukandar, respectively.

Interestingly, Dimakiling celebrating his 42nd birthday on Wednesday.

"IM Oliver Dimakiling won his 3nd round game against IM James Morris of Australia in the ongoing Grand Copthorne Professor Lim Kok Ann Invitational GM Tournament 2022 in Singapore. IM Dimakiling leads the tourney with 3 points after the 3rd round together with his 4th round opponent tomorrow morning,

Singapore's newly minted GM Tin Jingyao. He will also play against top seed GM Adhiban of India in the afternoon, both crucial matches in his quest for his last GM norm," said Chess patron and lawyer Jose Dionisio “Jong” Guevarra, Jr.

The Dubai based Dimakiling only needed one norm to earn a GM title that he has been chasing for several years now.
He got his first GM norm when he tied for first place in the Malaysian Open in 2006 while the second norm was when he finished runner-up in the Battle of the GMs in Boracay in 2012. He has already achieved 2500 ELO barrier.

For a number of years Ph chess has been longing, thirsting and wanting for another GM to come.

The last time that the country produced GM is on 2012 courtesy of Richard Bitoon and Oliver Barbosa.-Marlon Bernardino-
