2nd Inter-Town for City of San Jose Del Monte Chess Team

The City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM) Chess team edged the competition for a runaway victory in the 2 day-event of Governor Daniel R. Fernando 2nd Inter-Town Team Chess Tournament (Over The Board) held last February 19 and 20, 2022 at Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos City, Bulacan.

City of San Jose Del Monte Chess team tallied 10 match points to bring home the championship trophy.

"Congratulations to CSJDM chess team for defending the title in the Gov. Daniel Fernando Inter-Town Chess Tournament. Being a back to back champion is a big accomplishment that San Joseños can be really proud of. I would like to thank the players and the whole team of csjdm for their hard work. Kudos to the organizers led by Mr. Normel De jesus for the staging of this successful event, to our personal sponsors, to Mr. Luis Gutierez the head of city youth and sports development office of CSJDM and Mr. Kenneth Cabuang of CSADAC. To our Mayor Arthur Robes and Congresswoman Rida Robes,Salamat po. To all San Joseños, para sa atin po ang panalong ito. Arya San Joseño," said many-time Olympiad member Coach Woman International Master Catherine Pereña Secopito.

Hagonoy (8 match points), came second followed by third City of Malolos (6 match points), fourth City of Meycauayan-A (4 match points) and fifth Obando-A (2 match points).

"Congratulations to City of San Jose Del Monte City Chess Team for getting their back-to-back title after sweeping the elimination rounds and finals event," said Tournament Director Normel R. De Jesus.

The members of the City of San Jose Del Monte City Chess Team are Bd. 1 Joshua Heshed Crismo Bronze 6 pts, Bd. 2 Michael linde 6 pts Gold, Bd. 3 Warren Wacan 2.5 pts, Bd. 4 Bobby Gempis 5.5 pts Silver, Bd. 5 Shaniah Francine Tamayo 4 pts/Chrose Edward Vito Cruz 2 pts, Bd. 6 David Leonard Azuela 7pts Gold, Bd. 7 Justnin Macapuno 6.5 pts Gold, Bd. 8 Aleck Louise Saniego 6 pts Gold, Bd. 9 Jhune Angelo Dultra 5 pts Bronze and Bd. 10 Rogelio Esmane 7 pts Gold.

The Governor Daniel R. Fernando 2nd Inter-Town Team Chess Tournament is one of the priority tournaments of the Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office headed by its Department Head, Atty. Kenneth Z. Ocampo-Lantin and Sports Division OIC Benjamin B. Santos Jr. as it is participated in by different town in Bulacan such as City of San Jose Del Monte City, Hagonoy, City of Malolos, City of Meycauayan and Obando.
Awarding of trophies, medals and cash prizes will be at Provincial Capitol Gymnasium after the conclusion of Individual Chess Tournament which will be happening on February 26, 2022.-Marlon Bernardino-
