Filipino Alvin Barbero to compete in 2022 World Snooker Federation Open Championship in England By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Sat, 19 Feb 2022 MANILA---Filipino Alvin Barbero will showcase his talent in the 2022 World Snooker Federation Open Championship on February 19 -26 at the state-of-the-art Ding Junhui Snooker Academy in Sheffield, England. The affable snooker artist from Barangay Plainview, Mandaluyong City captivated the pool circuit by winning the bronze medal during the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore and the silver medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila, both in the doubles competition. He teaming up with Michael Mengorio in the 2015 Singapore SEAG while Jeffrey Roda his partner in the 2019 Manila SEAG. “I hope to do well in the 2022 World Snooker Federation Open Championship in England," said Isabela native Barbero, playing under the tutelage of the Billiard Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP) and the Philippine Sports Commision (PSC). “I will pour all that I know in the snooker sports,” added Barbero, whose aiming to follow the foot steps of his idol, Marlon Manalo, Benjie Guevarra and Roda. Ashley Hugill of England is the defending champion in this 17,750 British pound sterling total pot event with the champion getting the lion share of 7,500 British pound sterling. It shall be recalled that Hugill defeated Dylan Emery of Wales, 4-1, in the semis and Iulian Boiko of Ukraine, 5-3, in the finals to win the 2020 edition.
