CANELO-GGG UPDATE 2: ALVAREZ WILL ADJUST AND WIN SAYS DE LA HOYA; HE RAN IN THE FIRST FIGHT SAYS SANCHEZ

PhilBoxing.com

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya assures that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will adjust his moves to beat IBO, WBC, and WBA unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin during their rematch on September 15th from the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

Their first encounter in September 2017 resulted in a split draw. De la Hoya saw Canelo as the winner of the fight at 7-5 rounds for his own score of 115-113.

During the rematch, the Golden Boy boss is convinced his Mexican fighter will win convincingly. De La Hoya is of the opinion that Golovkin can only fight in one way by coming forward with combinations of punches. He does not see Golovkin making any necessary adjustments in the rematch thinking that he just can't do it.

"Yeah, there's always -- you can always do better. That's the beauty about boxing, and he knows what he has to do. I believe he fought a great fight. He fought his own fight, and I had him up two points," De La Hoya was quoted by Boxingscene.com.

"So, obviously, the second time around -- and that's the beauty with a rematch is that you can change up your style. You can adjust to your opponent's style, and that's the beauty with Canelo is that he knows how to adjust, unlike GGG that only fights one way, and that's coming forward."

Trainer of the year Abel Sanchez retaliated at the hurled accusations and strikes back at Canelo. ?He ran, he stalled, he didn?t conquer,? as he was quoted by Boxingscene.com.

Golovkin is known for his positive attitude and negative random drug test results, trains hard for his record-breaking 21st consecutive title defense.

?Gennady had to chase Canelo, who boasted that he was the true Mexican warrior, around the ring. It reminded me of the four corners offense those old Dean Smith-coached basketball teams," added Sanchez.

He said that the Kazakh champ was very active during the first fight and it was the Mexican challenger who was jeered when the results were announced.

"Compare the activity between the fighters in their first fight. Gennady did everything in that fight. Gennady wasn?t the one who got booed by the fans when those crazy scorecards were announced. And Gennady is going to do even more in the rematch. I read that Canelo isn?t eating beef in this camp. Let?s just hope he stopped eating duck too."
