KHAN PREDICTS AN EXPLOSIVE FIGHT WITH PACQUIAO By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Sun, 29 Jul 2018 Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs) fighting newly crowned WBA regular welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) in their next bout is burning the boxing headlines. That is granting Khan defeats Samuel Vargas (29-3-2, 14 KOs) on September 8 in Birmingham, UK. The 32-year-old Khan is being groomed by his promoter Eddie Hearn hopefully for a huge revenue fight against Kell Brook probably in December. Hearn and Brook want the tussle to take place before the end of 2018. Pacquiao and Khan have been floated to fight each other even before the senator's disputed loss to Jeff Horn. They have to clash atop the ring before they lose again. ?Sometimes you have to fight your friend,? Khan said to TMZ. ?Sometimes you put your friendship to the side; it?s business. And when it?s business you have to sometimes put it to the side and just go on with it. I think it would make an explosive fight.? Pacquiao still has too much to show if the Khan encounter will be realized. Pacquiao's KO victory over Lucas Matthysse, his first stoppage in more than nine years, would be his selling point against Khan. There's a great possiblity that their showdown would end by a knockout. The Pacquiao-Khan match could make much money, but probably not as much as he can make fighting Brook. But, Khan knows Pacquiao's fighting years is already limited, so it?s a now or never situation for the Pakistani-British fighter for him to face his former stablemate. Top Rank boss Bob Arum is pushing the senator for a workable PPV smash hit against his boxers Vasyl Lomachenko or Terence Crawford. Arum wants Pacquiao to fight Crawford or Lomachenko to upgrade their boxing careers to the next level and make them PPV materials, which his stable now lacks with the senator's departure. If either Crawford or Lomachenko can beat Pacquiao, then they can become instant PPV stars. Another option for the Filipino icon is a Floyd Mayweather rematch, which until now looks gloomy with the undefeated American enjoying his retirement to the max. It looks at present that Khan has the best chance of facing Pacquiao in 2018 among the possible next foes. He has to direct Hearn to make a deal for the Pacquiao match after his tune-up fight against Vargas. The Pacquiao-Khan fight could attract a record 100,000 spectators at the Wembley Stadium in London. On May 31, 2014, the Wembley Stadium hosted its first boxing event, the rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves for the IBF and WBA super middleweight titles in front of 80,000 spectators. The WBA and IBF heavyweight championship fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko broke the attendance record on April 29, 2017, with a crowd of approximately 90,000.
