Noynay Edges Mexican Garcia in Epic Battle in Bogo, Cebu, Retains WBO Asia Pacific Youth Belt

PhilBoxing.com

BOGO, Cebu - In a bloody non-stop war, Bogo native Joe Noynay edged tough forward-pressing brawler Hector Garcia of Tijuana, Mexico, to retain by majority decision his World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific Youth Super Featherweight Title Saturday night in Bogo City, in northern Cebu Province.

The two warriors went at each other from the get-go, exchanging furious blows of different calibers to entertain the excited crowd that did not stop cheering the display of courage and toughness from both warriors.

Noynay (14-2-1, 4 KO's) boxed, attempting combinations while all-heart Hector Garcia relentlessly attacked looking for the knock out; both men scoring big blows; however, the toughest knuckles from of action-fight were scored by Mexican.

Noynay raises his hands after being declared winner by majority decision.

In fact, the 23-year-old Mexican Garcia (12-7-2, 7 KO's) pushed Noynay to the edge of abyss a couple times during the ten-round furious battle, but failed to finish him off. The brave Pinoy managed to survived the onslaught and later on replied with fire of his own manufacture with the Filipino being more effective during the last two rounds of the clash.

Non-intentional low-blows occurred during the course of the skirmish, and a time-off was granted in favor of Noynay, though no points were deducted by the experienced international third man Mr. Tony Pesons of Mandaue.

Noynay and Garcia fall to the canvas.

Also, no knockdowns were recorded as no fighter went down to the canvas as a product of a blow. However, at one time the fighters? legs got entangled and both men went down together in an incidental trip to the canvas.

Garcia, 23, ended the rumble with a huge cash on his right eye brow, the result of a clash of heads, which required stitches afterwards.

Two judges saw the fight 96-94 in favor of the Noynoy, while the third judge Salven Lagunbay saw it a draw 95-95.

The Mexican Hector Garcia in his first fight outside Mexico had in his corner his experienced coach Antonio Lozada. Lozada has brought boxers to Cebu before. He is a former boxer who now trains fighters in Tijuana.

Meanwhile, the winner Joe "Jaw Breaker" Noynay, 22, a native son of Bogo, is trained by Elorde stable coaches in Para?aque, Metro Manila. Noynay has fought in China and Japan.

Noynay competes in the super featherweight division where the world champion is Ukrainian "Hi-Tech" Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KO's)

In attendance during the exciting night of boxing was popular former world champions Doddie Boy Penalosa and Milan Melindo.

The exciting card Saturday night (April 7) in Bogo, northern Cebu, was a successful effort of promoter Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde.
