PE?ALOSA VS. AMIT FOR THE WBC ASIAN BOXING COUNCIL SILVER FLYWEIGHT TITLE ON NOVEMBER 10 By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Sun, 29 Oct 2017  Carlo Caesar Pe?alosa (9-1-0, 3 KOs) will face Salatiel Amit (10-3-2, 7 KOs) for the WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight championship. The OPBF title bout will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum , Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Pe?alosa is from Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental while Amit is from Naval, Biliran. Pe?alosa's only loss was inflicted by Reymark Taday of Cotabato City on a six-round split decision last February 25. * * * Carlo Caesar is under the tutelage of his uncle former two-division world champion Gerry Pe?alosa who also trained Dodie Boy, Jr. and Dave Pe?alosa who are now international boxing scene campaigners. Gerry also promoted his nephews' fights. In his latest fight, Carlo Caesar won by 3rd round TKO against Vincent Bautista of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Amit, on the other hand, lost to Froilan Saludar by 9th round TKO last June 10. He was also defeated by Jonathan Taconing by 10th round TKO for the vacant WBC international light flyweight title November 19 last year. * * * In the supporting event, undefeated Omrri Bolivar (5-0-0, 3 KOs) of Venezuela will face local boy Jelbirt Gomera (12-4-0, 6 KOs) of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat for the interim OPBF featherweight title. Also in the undercard, Jeronil Borres (7-3-1, 5 KOs) of Camiguin will battle Wichet Sengprakhon (8-0-0, 3 KOs) of Thailand. Other supporting bouts involve foreign female fighters who will vie for Orient Pacific Boxing Federation female championship encounters. Yuko Henzan (5 6 3, 2 KOs) of Japan clashes with Phannaluk Kongsang (2-3-0, 1 KO) of Thailand for the vacant OPBF female bantamweight title. Erika Hanawa (7-1-0, 2 KOs) of Japan faces Sornsawan Khunmarn (2-4-0, 1 KO) of Thailand for the interim OPBF female minimumweight title. * * * Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) has not learned his lesson from his last fight against Wladimir Klitschko, when he weighed in at 254 pounds during Friday?s weigh-in for the defense of his IBF and WBA heavyweight titles against challenger Carlos Takam (35-3-1, 27 KOs) today at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The 254 lb-weight is a career high for Joshua, whose previous high of 250 lbs. came in his last fight against Wladimir Klitschko on April 29. * * * Joshua was slow and very bulky in that fight. He lost steam in the 5th round after throwing several punches early in the round. Joshua will enjoy an 18.5-pound weight advantage over the 235 ? lb. Takam. Whether the weight advantage will lead Joshua to victory remains to be seen. "I?ve been doing a lot more running. Maybe I?m starting to fill out as I get older and I?m starting to find my natural weight,? Joshua was quoted by World Boxing News. ?Who knows what it is. I definitely feel a lot fitter than I have in previous fights.? * * * Joshua?s career high weight surprised a lot of boxing fans, as his promoter Eddie Hearn was saying that he could weigh in 10 to 15 lbs. lighter for the Takam fight than he had against Klitschko. Hearn and even Joshua told the boxing media on Thursday that he was too light and that he should have come into the Takam fight heavier. On the other hand, Takam weighed in at 235 ? pounds, his lightest weight in 11 years since his second pro fight in 2006 against Thierry Guezouli where he weighed 227 lbs. * * * Katie Taylor will fight for the vacant WBA lightweight title after opponent Anahi Sanchez of Argentina failed to make the limit successfully. The talented Irishwoman bids to win a first world championship on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's heavyweight clash with Carlos Takam on the back of a standout amateur career. Sanchez failed to make the weight, the WBA world lightweight title is vacant Saturday night and only Taylor can win the belt. * * * Terrence Crawford is now a welterweight and he just dislodged Manny Pacquiao from the No. 1 slot in the WBO welterweight ratings. The WBO junior welterweight champion is formally vacating his title at 140 lbs. and moving up seven pounds heavier to compete at welterweight. ?Crawford will relinquish his title and he wants the WBO to classify him at No. 1 at welterweight," WBO President Francisco Valcarcel said of the undefeated champion from Nebraska. * * * As Crawford has now been declared the No. 1 mandatory contender, the WBO orders Jeff Horn to fight Crawford within 90 days, causing the closure of a Horn-Pacquiao rematch in the near future. The move dislodges Manny Pacquiao out of the top spot and relieves Jeff Horn from fighting Pacquiao in a rematch. Pacquiao was originally named as the mandatory challenger for Horn?s title after his controversial defeat. Crawford now automatically occupies the much-coveted mandatory challenger's place, the No. 1 contender. * * * Undefeated Ghanaian contender and reigning WBO international junior featherweight champion Isaac Dogboe will face Cesar Juarez. WBO world junior bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno was forced to withdraw from his November fight with No. 1 contender Juarez due to injury. The incident led to a fight between Juarez and the next available contender, which was Marlon Tapales. But Tapales said he was not available to fight due to problems with his trainer. * * * This gives the opportunity to the next available contender, Ghana?s rated WBO No. 3 Isaac Dogboe. ?I?m more than ready to fight... Absolutely," Dogboe said when asked if he is available to fight Juarez (20-5-0, 15 KOs) in December. The WBO has approved the Juarez-Dogboe fight to be sanctioned for the interim title. Dogboe (17-0-0, 11 KOs) claimed the WBO international super bantamweight title last July 22 by stopping Javier Nicolas Chacon of Argentina in Accra, Ghana. * * * Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, in his first five outings, is averaging an astounding 35.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.0 blocks. The Greek Freak is shooting 62.4 % from the field and 76.6 % from the charity lane on 9.4 attempts per game, which in the overall gives him a very high level of efficiency.
