PACQUIAO WILDCARD MEDIA DAY By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Thu, 27 Oct 2016 Hollywood, CA:- Top Rank Promotions early Wednesday afternoon held the final ?media day? for the Southern California to give the pundits one more chance to talk to Manny Pacquiao and try to pick his brains prior to the big day on November 5th at Las Vegas. The event was surprisingly less crowded compared to what we used to see when Pacquiao is involved in these events but the less than a hundred media folks that came more than made up for the others that decided not to show up. Too bad plenty of the big guns in the media were not there. I wish they knew what they missed today. Pacquiao did his usual ?writers only? interview at the lower gym at the Wildcard and afterwards he went to the 2nd floor gym to speak to the camera guys. There were lots of great questions from the media folks, questions ranging from his political stint at the Philippine Senate, to boxing and even the coming elections in the US. When asked for a comment regarding the US elections, Pacquiao like the seasoned politician that he is now, gave a very safe and politically correct reply :- ?I will respect the wishes of the American people?, he said. When pressed for more, he replied ?I cannot comment further because, as an elected official in the Philippines, I have to stay away from making comments about politics in other countries.? Pacquiao also hinted that the Jessie Vargas fight may not be his last but did not readily indicate that he will fight some more after November 5th. ?We will see about the future but for now, I am just focus on the Vargas fight?. However, we got a different view from Freddie Roach. ?I am sure Manny will give us one or two more fights. He looks really good and his training was as hard as in the past. I am sure he can handle one or two more without much difficulty,? he said. Bob Arum appears to be on the same page as Roach but was less cautious. ?We will see after November 5th. Manny himself will tell us if he can handle one or two more fights.? Incidentally, we fitted Pacquiao his new mouthguard today. We gave him a simple red-white-blue mouthguard highlighted with the seal of the Philippine Senate. Needless to say, he loves it!
