MAGSAYO TAKES ON A NEW OPPONENT AFTER RUBEN GARCIA GOT INJURED By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sat, 17 Sep 2016 Filipino WBO No. 8 ranked featherweight Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo will face Ramiro Robles of Guanajuato, Mexico on the main undercard of the Donnie Nietes vs Edgar Sosa WBO Inter-Continental flyweight championship on Sep. 24 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California after his original opponent Ruben Garcia backed out due to injury. ?Ruben Garcia's team informed ALA Promotions that their fighter got injured late last week,? ALA Promotions PR manager Chelna Locaylocay informed Philboxing by e-mail. Magsayo (14-0-0, 11KO) who came from a thrilling 6th round TKO victory over former world title challenger Chris Avalos of Lancaster, California in his last outing on April 23 in Cebu, will defend his WBO International featherweight title against the southpaw Robles (13-5-1, 8KO) who in his last few fights, became a fodder against fancied undefeated featherweight prospects including Joseph Diaz, Diego de la Hoya and Oscar Negrente. Robles however won his last fight against Gregorio Perez of Guasave, Mexico who was then sporting a 7-4-0 record with 6 knockouts. Also featured on next week's card is a rematch between WBO No. 1 ranked bantamweight 'King' Arthur Villanueva and Juan 'El Pineta' Jimenez for the WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title. Updated undercard bouts for next Saturday's event dubbed as 'Philippines vs Mexico' are: Joel Sapnio of San Leandro, CA vs Isaac Freeman of Los Angeles, CA, 6 rounds junior middleweight; Cesar Hernandez of Tracy, CA vs Martin Murillo of Los Angeles, CA, 4 rounds junior middleweight; Ben Garcia of New York vs Latorie Woodberry of Roanoke, Virginia, 4 rounds junior welterweightj; Ezra Hernandez of West Covina, CA vs Abraham Calderon Ruiz of Los Angeles, CA, 4 rounds junior middleweight.
