CASIMERO STILL NO. 10 IN THE RING FLYWEIGHT RATINGS

PhilBoxing.com

John Riel Casimero remained as No. 10 in the ratings of The Ring in the flyweight division even if he won the IBF title from Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand. Ruenroeng stayed at No. 2 of The Ring rankings though Casimero stopped him in the fourth round and wrested his crown. The Ormoc City native has been in the list for 32 weeks while the Thai ex-champ had stayed in the list for 106 weeks. "Quadro Alas" was listed as the IBF titlist and had signified his intention to challenge The Ring and WBC champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua, also the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer.

Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada, the WBA and WBO champion, is The Ring No. 1 flyweight contender whom Donnie "Ahas" Nietes wanted to fight. Nietes is The Ring and WBO junior flyweight champion. Meanwhile, Fil-Am Brian Villoria is the No. 4 flyweight contender in the Bible of Boxing ratings and has been in the list for 254 weeks. The Hawaiian Punch is the longest staying flyweight in The Ring ratings.

It's the Golden State Warriors who will be facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. The defending champions became just the 10th out of 233 teams to comeback from a 1-3 playoff deficit to clinch the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, 96-88. Throughout the seven games, OKC played better than Golden State in practically almost all aspects of the series. OKC's poor three-point shooting had a big effect in Games 6 and 7 as the Thunder missed 13 straight triples in one instant.

OKC grabbed more rebounds, dished out an equal number of assists, had less turnover over, more free throws and shot a higher field goal percentage. But Golden State shot 38-of-82 from three-point range in the last two games, hitting 17 of 37 shots in Game 7, starring the "Splash Brothers" Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. That spelled the came-from-behind victories of the Warriors to face the Big Three of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and company.
