PACQUIAO VS. MAYWEATHER II?

PhilBoxing.com

Stories of another Manny Pacquiao encounter with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. started to brew when Pacquiao failed to announce his next opponent during the Nonito Donaire tussle with Cesar Juarez in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As reported by skysports.com, it was the fighting congressman who originally announced on his official Facebook page on October 27, 2015 that he was negotiating a rematch with the retired American pound-for-pound champion of the world.

"I don't know yet who's my opponent next but we're still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that," Pacquiao posted on his Facebook.

"I'd love to fight in Dubai," declared Pacquiao when he was in Dubai to play for exhibition games of his PBA team Mahindra Enforcers where he was player-coach, as quoted by emirates247.com. There, the eight-division world champion pinpointed at Mayweather as the opponent he would like to fight next in a rematch.

Mayweather Promotions chief executive Leonard Ellerbe tweeted from his official Twitter account: "Floyd Mayweather is RETIRED, end of discussion."

But digitaljournal.com reported that Mayweather is now in Dubai supposedly as a tourist. "Haven't been to the UAE in awhile so I decided to come get the Royal Treatment and take 24 people to Dubai to hang out for a few days," Mayweather posted on his Twitter page.

There were reports that some business tycoons in the UAE are offering a purse of $200 million for Mayweather and $100 million for Pacquiao in a rematch that could take place in Dubai.

The fight may have several impediments if held in the United States, because of the inability to satisfy a lot of fans. Though it earned more than $500 million and close to 5 million pay-per-view buys.

But the name Pacquiao and Mayweather were the most popular names in Facebook and other social media last year. With the growing interest in big-time sports in the Middle East, the idea of holding the second edition of the Pacquiao-Mayweather extravaganza was not far-fetched.

If the rumors were true, then another superfight is looming. Pacquiao would have wanted to end his career with a big payday. He will have his last fight before the senatorial elections in which he was one of the most likely to be in the Magic 12.

When Floyd was asked who was his top three toughest opponent, he was quoted by boxingscene.com: "I can say that none of them were easy. Although I must say that Canelo was tough....Miguel Cotto [was tough]. Manny Pacquiao was very tough. Pacquiao is very good. He was better than I thought."

Days before Pacquiao was set to announce his next opponent in the truTV coverage of the Donaire-Juarez WBO title fight, the MoneyMan had this to say as quoted by ibtimes.com: "A lot of people said that I avoided this fight. A lot of people said that I couldn?t win the fight. But I proved all of that was wrong, and therefore the fight against Manny Pacquiao is the most important for me."

And Mayweather could always come out of retirement like he did in the past. With the money involved approximate to the amount he earned in the "Fight of the Century" last May.

Pacman fans were always challenging Floyd to fight a "healthy" Pacquiao who charged him of "running" during their first fight.
