VERA DESTROYS REPLACEMENT FOE TO CAPTURE HISTORIC FIRST ONE CHAMPTIONSHIP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino-American International MMA star Brandon Vera is the first ONE CHAMPIONSHIP heavyweight champ by knocking out Taiwanese fighter, Paul Cheng, in the main event of the SPIRIT OF CHAMPIONS card on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The former UFC star finished the job in just 26 seconds of the very first round by delivering a counter left straight to the face of his opponent followed by a vicious head kick sending Cheng to the canvass. Seeing a bloody opponent on the canvas, Vera wasted no time in throwing hammer fists to the head of Cheng prompting the referee to stop the fight.
With the historic win over a durable opponent in Cheng, Vera becomes a world champion in Asia?s largest MMA organzation, the ONE CHAMPIONSHIP. Vera improves his MMA record to 14-7, while Cheng now has a record of 5-3 after accepting the bout in very short notice replacing heavyweight fighter Chi Lewis Parry, who was removed from the fight card after reportedly failing to submit his medical records and for not boarding his scheduled flight to Manila on December 8, 2015.
