ALA HEAD TRAINER EDITO VILLAMOR BELIEVES VILORIA HAS A GOOD CHANCE AGAINST ?CHOCOLATITO? GONZALEZ By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 29 Sep 2015 ALA Gym head trainer and former world title challenger Edito ?Ala? Villamor believes two division world champion Brian Viloria has a good chance against undefeated WBC flyweight champion and recently installed pound for pound No.1 Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez of Nicaragua when they clash in a title fight at New York?s Madison Square Garden on October 17. Villamor has watched Viloria train at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach who is also helping the Pagara brothers, light welterweight No. 2 ranked Jason Pagara, unbeaten IBF International super bantamweight champion Prince Albert Pagara and undefeated IBF Youth champion Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo who will also see action on October 17 at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California. Villamor told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that Viloria ?is in fine condition and moving well.? He said Viloria has shown ?great focus and determination and has demonstrated a great left hook with lots of power? giving Villamor the feeling that while it?s a big fight ?Brian has a good chance against Gonzalez. Villamor disclosed that WBO light flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes will arrive in Los Angeles with trainer Edmund Villamor on October 1 and will have time to spar with Viloria with Brian?s manager Gary Gittelsohn indicating it would help both fighters as they prepare for their crucial fights on the same night. The trainer told us the Pagara brothers and Magsayo are in great condition and have looked solid in sparring against Armenian, Kazakhstan and Mexican opponents with Freddie Roach constantly giving them pointers while they work the punch-mitts. The StubHub fight card will be the inaugural presentation of ALA Promotions in cooperation with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN and the widely watched TFC, The Filipino Channel especially in the middle east. The card is No. 33 in the highly successful ?Pinoy Pride? series. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
