DAY FOUR: SHAW DELIVERS GREATNESS TO JOIN ALCAIDE, CAPITO AND SEVASTYANOV IN STELLAR SEMI-FINAL LINEUP PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 Oct 2025 ![]() Jayson Shaw produced a masterclass performance on Day Four storming past Reyes Cup MVP AJ Manas and Patrick Gonzales to book his place in a star-studded semi-final lineup alongside David Alcaide, Robbie Capito, and Arseni Sevastyanov. In partnership with Puyat Sports, the newest Matchroom Major on the World Nineball Tour – the 2025 LiveSB.io Philippines Open Pool Championship takes place at Gateway Mall, Quezon City, from 21–25 October, broadcast live on One Sport in the Philippines and WNT TV globally. Shaw delivered a blistering display of form, defeating local favourite Patrick Gonzales before producing a ruthless 11-rack surge to dispatch 18-year-old AJ Manas in front of a packed Gateway Mall crowd. Reflecting on his dominant run, Shaw said: “I’ve been saying all week I’m playing great, and now everyone can see it. AJ’s a brilliant young player — his time will come — but today was my day. I love this atmosphere, I feed off it. The crowd here in Manila has been unreal all week. If I keep this focus tomorrow, that trophy’s coming home with me.” Joining Shaw in the semi-finals is the former World Pool Masters champion David Alcaide, who held off two Filipino threats — Michael Baoanan and Jeffrey Ignacio — to keep his title hopes alive. Alcaide commented: “I’m really proud to be in the semi-finals. It’s been a tough road — two great Filipino players pushed me all the way — but I managed to stay calm and finish strong. The pressure has been huge here, but I feel ready for whatever comes next.” Robbie Capito also continued his incredible form, reaching back-to-back semi-finals after his deep run in Hanoi earlier this month. Capito edged a nail-biting hill-hill decider against Norway’s Emil Gangflot before overpowering World Pool Championship semi-finalist Bernie Regalario. Capito said: “It feels amazing to be back in another semi-final — and doing it here in Manila makes it even better. The crowd has been unbelievable; you can feel the passion in every shot. I was lucky in a few moments today, but I stayed calm when it mattered. Now it’s about staying focused — one match, one rack, one ball at a time.” Completing the final four is Finland’s Arseni Sevastyanov, who produced two impressive victories over Filipinos Jeffrey Roda and Roland Garcia to secure his first-ever appearance in a Matchroom Major semi-final. Sevastyanov shared: “I’m just enjoying every second out there. The crowd is loud but it pushes me, not pressures me. I’ve had a great season, and now I want to finish it with something special. I’m here to win my first title — nothing else.” With the semi-finalists confirmed, the stage is set for an epic final day in Manila. Shaw, Alcaide, Capito, and Sevastyanov will battle it out for the inaugural Philippines Open crown — but only one will emerge as champion.
