VILORIA CANT BE MOTIVATED ANY MORE FOR HIS TITLE FIGHT VS NEW POUND FOR POUND KING ROMAN ?CHOCOLATITO? GONZALEZ By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 17 Sep 2015 The manager of two division world champion Brian Viloria, Gary Gittelsohn contends that Brian ?couldn? t be motivated any more than he is? as he prepares to face undefeated, newly installed Ring Magazine pound for pound king Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez of Nicaraguan on October 17 at Madison Square Garden, New York. Gittelsohn told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com ?I?m not sure that the additional ring ranking gives him more motivation than he already has coming into this matchup. I?m really proud of Brian. He is demonstrating in his preparation for this fight that he?s going to leave nothing in that ring.? He recalled that with Viloria they have ?been banging our heads against the wall trying to get HBO or Showtime, the premium cable networks in the US to recognize the lower weights principally because the entire time since he began his career ?it?s so talent laden I believe it?s been the most talent laden in the entire business of boxing and it?s a crime that some of the greatest fights of the last decade some of which I witnessed personally at ringside or on YouTube were relegated to outlying broadcast networks if at all, when HBO and Showtime had this natural bias against the smaller weight classes even favored guys who were putting on relatively humdrum affairs.? We ourselves recall that at a press conference in Los Angeles when he was to face WBA flyweight champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez and Gonzalez who faced Juan Francisco Estrada in a light flyweight was on the same card promoted by Fernando Beltran, they both expressed disappointment that they couldn?t get exposed on the established networks. Gittelsohn said ?This has been a crusade of mine and I?ve been fighting for the little guys as long as I am in boxing. One of the guys I represented some 20 years ago was Junior Jones who was a great bantamweight and was the first guy who beat Marco Antonio Barrera and I had to go and sit down in the GBO Offices with different executives in those days with Seth Abraham and even Lou dibella when he was there and only by pounding my fist on the desk did we get some attention and it was in the form of building a different show called HBO Boxing After Dark and that became the breeding ground for young guys in the lower weights to eventually make it on to HBO?s bigger platform.?
