WILL THE MAY 2nd DANCE BE WORTH THE PRICE?

PhilBoxing.com

The very first e-mail that got to me after the ?Big Fight? was announced was from my cousin. He wrote- ?Kuya Ed since you have 65 footer HDTV can we come and watch at your house??

?Oh, can I bring some friends along too??

The problem is I am going to Vegas to cover the fight and they have to talk to my son who most probably will ask them to share the cost of PPV, the food and booze and the clean-up of the house.

I hope what my relatives will do won?t be the norm given the projected cost of the PPV and the fight itself.

But, I can almost see it.

Most folks will probably not spent $1000 for the cheapest seat at the MGM or $100 for PPV much less for $120 for HDTV. For sure they will find some relative or friend to share the cost of watching the fight on PPV, because viewing it live at the MGM will be too prohibitive for regular working class people what with the expected jack-up in the cost of rooms.

Speaking of rooms, I called my host at MGM soon as I heard about the fight. The cheapest room even to an MLife member like me is $450 for April 30th, $475 for May 1st and $569 for May 2nd.

Now you know why most folks will not go to the MGM to see the fight live!

It?s insane!

Given the fact that Manny and Floyd are no-where near their condition five years ago and the run and gun style of Floyd, will it be worth the price?

It will be if one is expecting to see Floyd on his butt or flat on the canvas.

But if one expecting a phone booth rumble, paying that much money will be a great disappointment because there is not going to be a fight.

Floyd will run all over the ring and will only occasionally stick his jab or throw a counter to Manny?s ferocious hooks. And, he will run some more the first time he feels Manny?s hooks.

Thus, Manny versus Floyd will be a dance.

But the fight being in Las Vegas, Mayweather is a shoe-in to win if the fight goes to the final bell.

So there you go folks. Perhaps it will be far better if most of you will mimic what my cousin plans to do- collect his friends and split the cost of watching the fight with my son. I guess that is the best way to go to see a ?dance?.
