GAB DISCOVERS MORE ANOMALIES
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 10 Apr 2007
The Games and Amusements Board has discovered more anomalies involving Filipino boxers who are being exploited by unscrupulous individuals both in the Philippines and Thailand.
GAB boxing division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz visited boxing promoter Yolly Alfante to claim the belongings of Lito Sisnorio whose ring death in Bangkok sparked a crackdown by chairman Buhain which began with a ban imposed on Filipino boxers fighting in Thailand.
Panya Prachakorn whose name surfaced as the Thai connection of Ranilo Terrania alias Bong Obero had told Dr. Cruz when they met in Bangkok along with Commissioner Angel Bautista that the belongings of Sisnorio were with Kid Orais and according to Buhain “said the same thing in front of Consul Santos of the Philippoine Embassy.” Buhain said Orais who met with Dr. Cruz yesterday told him Sisnorio and Michael Rodriguez were staying in Panya’s house and the belongings of Sisnorio were with Panya.
Buhain said efforts are being made to have the belongings of Sisnorio brought back by another boxer Tata Polinar. The chairman also disclosed that former boxer Rex Paciones who reportedly works for Obero provided the tickets for the boxers who sneaked out of the country. He also revealed that the supposed Filipino who was a longtime resident of Thailand who spoke Thai and allegedly looked after the Filipino boxers was a “fake” and the name was floated by Panya to mislead GAB officials.
Meantime, Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today learned from ABS-CBN that Obero was in custody not in the NBI or Quezon City detention centers but in Nueva Ecija since the illegal recruitment complaint against him had been filed in Nueva Ecija.
