TWIN KILLINGS FOR PACQUIAO By Hermie Rivera PhilBoxing.com Tue, 10 Apr 2007 SAN ANTONIO, TX -- After a brief respite from the fight scene, let me resume my watch on our hard-punching Manny Pacquiao who's winding up his seamlesss workouts for his April 14 encounter with Mexican Jorge Solis, at San Antonio's Alamodome. Pacquiao's training regimen at Holywood's Wild Card gym turned out very well what with deputy trainors Justin Fortune, Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri providing commendable performance despite the absence of chief trainer Freddie Roach who's on a mission for Oscar de la Hoya in Puerto Rico. Exacting dominant performance from his game sparring mates, Manny is poised to hang a tidy loss to the unbeaten but relatively unknown Solis-- claims to the contrary by his henchmen--notwithstanding. Quite a convincing display of the Pacman's fire power during his month long sessions at his favored Holywood training pad, a move that could hasten his aim of ending his brawl with the ambitious Guadalajaran in the early rounds. Solis is as good every bit of the hype that surrounded him when it was announced that he's the genuine article -- until he came face to face with the hard-hitting brawler from GenSan during his first media encounter at an L.A. gymnasium. "Solis with his undefeated slate had us a bit perplexed the whole time he's been training at the Otomi mountains. It turns out he ain't as advertized," cried Winchell Campos, Pacquiao's lieutenant upon seeing the latest Mexican wannabe attempt to unsettle the congressional aspirant of the first district of GenSan, South Cotabato. Manny Pacquiao, fresh from his memorable scraps is feeling comfortable not only on his impending assignment with the audacious Mexican prospect but more adjusted and relaxed on his other scheduled foe -- Darlene Custodio, who's defending her political hold in the first district of General Santos, South Cotabato that includes the towns of Polomolok, Tupi and Tampakan. Manny as of now is focused on his fight with Solis but will start sorting every facet of his new team's strategy for the campaign after he takes care of the shootout at the Alamo. "Not to worry. I'll beat both of my adveraries, one atop the ring and my political rival at Distrito Uno in South Cotabato," stressed the Filipino boxing sensation Seeing what the gifted slugger prepare for what he calls his 'twin killings', I've no doubt he'll prevail. None of his boast is 'big deal' as they say except that we are talking of a campaigner who is odds on to become one of our country's biggest name -- fistically or politically.
