USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad Secures Eight More Victories on Day Three of 2026 Copa America

United States Earns Eight More Wins In Girardot

GIRARDOT, Colombia (May 20, 2026) – USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad had another eye-popping day in Girardot, Colombia, as National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux led his team to eight more wins. USA Boxing has now earned a dominant 27 wins through the first three days of competition at the 2026 Copa America event. led his team to eight more wins.

The United States saw dominant performances from Moises Rodriguez (55 kilograms), Dustin Jimenez (65 kilograms), Kentrell Rouser (70 kilograms), and Tyric Trapp (80 kilograms) as all four boxers won by either RSC or by 5-0 unanimous decision.

Rodriguez was the first of the group to earn a victory, and the Texas native secured his first 5-0 unanimous decision victory of the event, improving his competition record to 2-0. Rodriguez defeated Camilo Gonzalez and will now face Luis David Castillo on Wednesday, Bout 7 at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET.

Following Rodriguez, Jimenez, and Rouser also secured 5-0 unanimous decision victories. Both boxers have now earned three wins in the first three days, improving their records to 3-0 at the 2026 Copa America. Jimenez earned his win over Jose Yate, while Rouser defeated Jhonatan Ramos. Both boxers are scheduled for their fourth bout in four days, as Jimenez will face Luis Bonolis on Wednesday, Bout 8 at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET, and Rouser will face Keiner Berrocal on Wednesday, Bout 9 at approximately 5:00 p.m. ET.

Lastly, Trapp earned USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad’s final victory on Tuesday with an RSC victory in the second round over Andres Orobio. Trapp’s victory marked the third international win of his amateur career. The New Jersey native is back in the ring on Wednesday afternoon, facing Isaac Bolaños in Bout 10 at approximately 5:15 p.m. ET.

Earning victories by walkover on Tuesday were Deborah Grant (57 kilograms), Malachi Georges (90 kilograms), Gilbert Kabamba (90+ kilograms), and Nnajai Wright (90+ kilograms). All four boxers will look to return to the ring on Wednesday, with Grant facing Angie Biojo in Bout 5 at approximately 4:00 p.m. ET and Georges facing Jose David Rodriguez in Bout 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET. Wright and Kabamba will square off against each other in Bout 12 at approximately 5:45 p.m. ET.

Also entering the ring Tuesday afternoon in Colombia but falling short were Jayshannet Zapata (54 kilograms) and Yahir Diaz-Martinez (60 kilograms). Both boxers will have Wednesday off.

The USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad will have 10 boxers enter the ring on Wednesday, May 20.

Throughout the competition at the 2026 Copa America, the United States will be led by USA Boxing National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.), with assistance from Alex Love (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Billy Rafalko (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Jeffrey Nimo (Grand Prairie, Texas).
