There were no titles on the line, but Filipinos Jhunriel Ramonal, Roque Lauro and Renoel Pael got their hands risen high tonight on the ring of the Central Gym in the seaside city of Kobe, 30 Km west of Osaka. The trio of Pinoy winners were guided in Japan by veteran men of boxing Aljoe Jaro of Rizal and Brix Florex of Cebu. The first Filipino boxer to climb the ring was 25-year-old Zamboangue?o Jhunriel Ramonal (14-7-4, 7 KO's), who won a hard-fought split decision over relentless Japanese southpaw Kota Fukuoka (15-5-2, 12 KO's) of Akashi, Hyogo. "It was close and exciting action fight... all rounds were competitive and there were lots of blows thrown. At the end Jhunriel Ramonal got the win and we are happy tonight here in Kobe," said 41-year-old manager Aloe Jaro of Jaro Boxing Promotions. Then, it was the turn for Roque Lauro (11-16-4, 2 KO's) of Butuan, Agusan del Norte, to face Nippon warrior Ryuya Yamanaka. After eight rounds of war, Lauro defeated the Yamanaka via split decision. After the win, Roque Lauro, who had his 29th birthday last week, said: "Lord, salamat po sa binigay mong tagompay para sakin..panalo po ako sa laban ko ngaun..marameng salamat po sa lahat ng nag dasal para sakin..panalo po ako..salamat po s inyong soporta." But the night was not over. In the main event, 23-year-old Renoel "Raja" Pael of Cebu scored the third Filipino win of the evening by defeating the hard-hitting local warrior Yuki Yonaha. The 23-year-old Renoel Pael was assisted during the intense clash by his experienced head coach Brix Flores of the Flores Boxing Gym in Mandaue, Cebu. The card tonight at Central Gym in Kobe, Japan, was a production of promoter Masato Yamashita of Shinsei Promotions.
