MAJOR PRO BOXING ORGANIZATIONS MOVE FORWARD ON RANDOM DRUG TESTS
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Jun 2014

In what has been described as a very constructive and positive meeting the heads of three of the four biggest professional boxing organizations of the world have reached initial agreement on a number of important issues including random drug testing and testing for performance enhancing drugs.
The historic summit called by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman in Cancun, Mexico was attended by WBA vice president and executive director Gilberto Mendoza Jr and IBF president Darryl Peoples.
A report from the WBC said the three leaders had reached agreement and common ground on many areas of great importance to the sport including a proposed tournament between champions in different weight divisions to crow a sole world champion.
They discussed standardizing of division names and reciprocity on suspensions and also took up the issue of a joint effort to counter the monopolistic efforts of the International Amateur Boxing Federation or AIBA.
The leaders of the three organizations all expressed their hope that the meeting set the groundwork for multilateral agreements on many areas of benefit to boxing and, above all, boxers.
The leaders of the WBC, WBA and IBF are scheduled to meet again in September.
