PAGARA BROTHERS ?FISTS OF THE FUTURE? TURNS IN REMARKABLE RATINGS
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 24 Jun 2014

The rousing victories of the promising Pagara brothers, WBO International light welterweight champion Jason ?El Nino? Pagara and younger brother Prince Albert Pagara who won the vacant IBF Intercontinental junior featherweight title and were the stars of ?Fists Of The Future? on the 26th edition of ?Pinoy Pride? has turned in remarkable ratings.
According to Kantar Media Research Philippines, the fights which took place at the plush Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu last Saturday evening but were telecast the following day (Sunday) at 10:15 a.m. on the pre-eminent Channel 2 of the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN rated 16.61 percent for total Philippines which included both rural and urban audiences nationwide while the main event which featured a classic ring war between 25 year old Jason Pagara and gallant Mexican warrior Mario ?Rocky? Meraz registered a rating of 18.67 percent.
The ?Pinoy Pride? ratings were much higher than GMA 7 whose programs on the same time slot rated 10.30 percent in a head-to-head contest while TV 5?s program at that same time rated 4.07 percent.
The ratings for the Pagara brothers clearly indicate that they have developed a following and their rousing victories over worthy Mexican opponents showed the two young men have a bright future.
While Jason Pagara?s 4th round TKO of Meraz drew criticism because of what many believed was a premature stoppage by referee Danrex Tapdasan, there were no doubts about Prince Albert?s devastating TKO of Hugo ?Olimpico? Partida who was smashed to the canvas three times before internationally respected referee Bruce McTavish correctly called a halt to the massacre.
