Despite arriving in South Africa just 24 hours before the weigh-in ceremony, Filipino warriors Gandionco and Enriquez were successful at the scales Thursday afternoon in East London.

The first one to step on was unbeaten 22-year-old Macrea Gandionco (L) of Baguio who weighed-in at 107 lbs. Shortly after, his opponent, the hard-swinging former SA champion Luzuko Siyo (12-2, 9 KO's ) of Duncan Village tipped the scales at 107.5 lbs., clearing the last hurdle for their battle for the vacant IBO Jr. Flyweight (108 lbs) Inter-Continental belt, a tough encounter for both combatants.

In the co-main event, Cagayan de Oro fighter Michael "The Blade" Enriquez (8-1-1, 4 KO's) scaled-in at 110 lbs., while his 23-year-old Western Cape's nemesis Mzuvukile "Old Bones" Magwaca (13-1-1, 8 KO's) made 111 lbs. The two will clash for the vacant IBO Inter-Continental Flyweight (112 lbs.) title.

Soon after the successful weigh-in proceedings were completed, the Filipinos boxers bought pizzas, hamburgers, french friends, fruits and drinks to take to their hotel rooms to rehydrate, rest and gain back strength for tomorrow's tough action, the spirits among the Pinoys are high.

Enriquez and Magwaca pose during the weighin.

"We are all doing really good. Right now, Gandionco and Enriquez are resting and gaining back power for boxing tomorrow. Our minds are focused on the work ahead. We aim at scoring good wins here in South Africa," shared manager Managquil from his hotel room in East London.

Macrea Gandionco and Michael "Blade" Enriquez (both 22 years of age), are accompanied by promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of General Santos City and head coach Renie Gabawa.

The card Friday night (June 6) at the Orient Theater in East London is a production of veteran South African promoter Andilie Sinidile, whose boxer Simpiwe Vetyeka lost his world title to Filipino Nonito Donaire last Saturday in Macau.
