Gumban will face veteran Negros pugilist Jason Egera in a non-title bout as the main event of the 5th edition of the ALA-Cobra ?Tunay na Lakas Boxing? slated on May 31 (Saturday), at the Mandaue City Plaza Square, this was bared during the ALA press conference held at the Sugbahan Restaurant in Mandaue City Thursday afternoon. The 23-year-old Gumban, who hails from Escalante City in Negros Occidental, had sixteen professional fights, eight of which he won knockouts, and now will put his unbeaten record on the line as he battles Egera with 21-10, 10KO record for a 10-rounder bout in the Bantamweight division (116 lbs). In the main supporting bout, Juren Labordo (11-1, 7KO), a Bacolod-sensation, will slug it out against JP Macadumpis (9-2-1, 3KO) of General Santos City for 8 rounds in the super flyweight division, while Powell Balaba (8-10-1, 5KO) will exchange punches with Junior Salvador of Mandaue City for 6 rounds under the junior flyweight division. ALA Promotions and Cobra Tunay Na Lakas Energy drink consider this event would pave the way for aspiring Filipino world champions, craving to showcase and create boxing champions in the Philippines with boundless opportunities. ?Boxing is a sport. Also in the undercard, two Japanese fighters in Takaoki Noma and Yuki Iriguchi, both with 0-3 record, will also strut their action against separate foes in the slambang event. Noma will be fighting Aldrin Guara of Bacolod City under the 130-pound division, while Iriguchi will go up against Melchor Abcede of Tagbilaran City under the 118-pound division. The rest of the fight card features Peter Apolinar vs Sonny Basanez; and Vicente Cosido of Dumaguete City vs Holly Quinones of General Santos City. Both fighters will be fighting under the 122-pound divisions. This event is free to the public and is organized by ALA Boxing Promotions in partnership with Cobra Energy Drink.
