By Katrina Barnett PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Mar 2014
CHICAGO -- On Friday evening, the Indiana Pacers played and conquered, and thanks to 91-71 win over the Chicago Bulls they now have a commanding 13 game lead over their Central Division rivals.
The Bulls started strong, leading 23-19 after one quarter. The Pacers, however, turned things around in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulls 25-20 and going into the half up by one, 44-43.
The Pacers continued and strengthened their lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulls 31-19. Adding to the Bulls third quarter woes, Carlos Boozer was called for a Flagrant 1 foul with 7:31 left. The Bulls continued to spiral, heading into the fourth quarter down 62-75.
Showing a little bit of life at the beginning of the fourth, the Bulls went on a 7-0 run. Unfortunately, with 7:07 minutes left in the game Taj Gibson fouled out. The Bulls went on to outscore the Pacers 17-16 in the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost 79-91.
Post-game, Gibson stated that: ?I thought a couple of calls didn?t go our way and took some of our momentum away.?
Helping the Pacers to a 2-1 record against the Bulls this season, the team was led by Luis Scola who scored 19 points off the bench, followed by Lance Stephenson with 15. The Bulls, meanwhile, were led by D.J. Augustin and Jimmy Butler who scored 17 points each.
The Bulls will return to Chicago Saturday where they will take on the Philadelphia 76ers and attempt to improve their record to 39-31. (KB)
