DARYL BASADRE CAPTURES WBF BELT IN GENSAN
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 21 Mar 2014

A lethal Daryl "Flash" Basadre scored a round 2 technical KO over brave Cebu-based Julius Alcos to claim the vacant WBF International Super Flyweight (115 lbs) belt Thursday night (March 19) at a packed Lagao Gym in General Santos City, Cotabato del Sur, Philippines.
From the sound of the first bell, the tall, hard-hitting Basadre (11-1-1, 8 KO's) pursued and punished the slower Alcos (22-14, 4 KO's), downing him three times during the rough action of round 2 en route to a categorical title win.
The decisive victory opens up the possibility for the 21 year-old Cagayan de Oro native Basadre to dispute the vacant WBF Super Flyweight World Title against unbeaten WBF Inter-continental champion Joseph Hilongwa (12-0, 5 KO's) on May 9 in the Southern African Republic of Namibia. This fight is still to be confirmed.
In the co-main event, 23-year-old Jason "Dodong" Canoy (18-4-2, 12 KO's) of Balamban, Cebu, won an 8-round unanimous decision over tough Gensan warrior Ronerex Dalut (8-14-2, 2 KO's).
