GEJON SHOULD WIN HANDILY
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 02 Mar 2007
Former WBA minimum weight title challenger Eriberto ?Yukka? Gejon should handily dispose of Thailand?s 25 year old Wisan Sor Suchanya in the main event of a Manny Pacquiao Promotions open air fight card along Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
Gejon who was robbed of the world title in a 10 round technical decision against Yutaka Niida in Japan on September 25, 2005 is coming off a second round TKO of Thailand?s Yoddoi Sithsoei last September 22 at the San Andres Sports Center in Manila. Gejon sports a record of 22-1-1 with 14 knockouts and is cut above the class of Suchanya.
The Thai fighter dropped a lopsided decision to Rexon Flores last December 30 at the Mandaluyong City Gym in a clash for the vacant WBO Intercontinental light flyweight title when all three judges scored it 118-110 for Flores. Suchanya has a record of 8-4-1 with 2 KO?s.
In what may well be a more exciting fight Australian Terry Mogg?s fighter Gretchen Abaniel battles Baino Lindo in a clash of women boxers. Abaniel who is managed and trained by Mogg, a former fighter who works with the Australian Embassy in Manila, is coming off a four round majority decision over China?s Li Hai Li in Yunnan on December 21 last year. Lindo who was featured on Viva Sports top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? lost her pro debut against Jujeath Nagawa of Baguio City on August 26, 2006.
