NBA - Raptors rally past Bulls, 85-79
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Wed, 01 Jan 2014

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls will welcome the year 2014 on a losing note after the visiting Toronto Raptors came from behind to score a thrilling 85-79 victory on New Year's Eve at the United Center.
The Raptors played catch-up most the way, falling behind by as many as nine in the second quarter and trailing 62-57 after three quarters. But Toronto came alive in the final 12 minutes and outscored the Bulls 28-17 for their 14th victory in 29 outings.
Toronto center Jonas Valanciunas scored 15 and grabbed nine rebounds while Kevin Lowry added 13. DeMar De Rozan finished with 11 points and eight boards and the Raptors won despite making only 29 of 69 field goals, including only 4-for-14 from 3-point range.
Luol Deng returned back to the line-up after missing five straight games with a sore Achilles. He scored a game-high 16 markers but so much rust was evident as the small forward converted only 6-of-15 field goals.
Jimmy Butler finished with 16 and seven boards and Mike Dunleavy chipped in 13. Big men Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer missed 15 of 18 shots for a combined output of 11. Chicago, which fell to 12-18, missed 52 of their 82 field goals. (Homer D. Sayson)
