Rey Bautista Faces Toughest Opponent in Feider Viloria PhilBoxing.com Tue, 13 Feb 2007 February 24 showcases the destructive might of punching pugilists, the Antioquian WBC Latino super bantamweight champion Feider Viloria and the Boholano WBO No. 1 super bantamweight contender Reynaldo ?Boom-Boom? Bautista. It tests who stands on his feet and who drops on the canvass. Viloria is the strongest puncher so far that Boom would have to take in his quest for the two championship crowns. And Boom also stands in Viloria?s way to snatch another title. Printed documents on Viloria?s fights have been scant. But of those available, it is clear that this Colombian prizefighter of 23 is a rock that might be hard to take down. Viloria will test Bautista?s spirit and staying power in the ring. In his 21 pro fights, Viloria compiles a fearsome record of four KO?s in the first round and nine KO?s in the 2nd round. Of his 12 wins by KO, such a record is a stunning 75 percent stoppage within the first two rounds. He has bested more experienced boxers in Humberto Martinez (14 fights against his 10 fights) on Feb 18, 2005 and Over Bolanos (24 fights against his 14 fights) on Oct 10, 2005. He KO?d Bolanos in round 1. His fight on April 29, 2005 where he suffered his only loss, Viloria (then, 10-0-0) proved to be a hardy opponent for Roinet ?The Horse? Caballero (10-7-1) at Fort Amador in Panama City. Caballero has to withstand hard hits to his body; in fact, he had to absorb them all while sending his own solid gloves to Viloria?s body. He had to attack relentlessly, pushing his head at Viloria?s center, harass him endlessly until Viloria started to lose steam and finally fell to the canvass in round 5. Only such a technique, supported by a sturdy physique, made him overcome Viloria. Viloria is a potential nemesis of Bautista. He got the tools to test how far Bautista can absorb devastating body attacks, how he can withstand the pain, and hit back at the same time. It is expected that Viloria and Bautista will be trading devastating blows, harassing each other, until one champion stands amidst the flying dust of the canvass as the other goes down, and claim the crowns for WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight and WBO Youth super bantamweight. In this ?Moment of Truth,? only the strong and hardy survives. Will it be Feider or Boom-Boom? Tickets are available but are running out. For reservations, call (6332) 346-3492 or 346-3489. |
