Villamor Assures Fans Not to Worry

PhilBoxing.com

Now that the celebrated trainer of Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach, has been chosen to train Oscar de la Hoya for his fight against Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May and much of his quality time will be devoted to De la Hoya, what immediately comes to mind is what about the up coming fights of Z Gorres and Boom Boom Bautista in less than 4 weeks in Cebu? Although there were assurances that Freddie Roach will still ?take care of the boys? and will have plenty of help from Justine Fortune, one can?t help but worry about Gorres and Bautista.

The answer of course is a huge ?Not to worry?, with or without Roach, Edito Villamor can handle the job just fine.

Villamor has been handling the training of both Gorres and Bautista for some time now. In fact, the boys started training at the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood a few weeks ago without Roach who was in Manila shooting a commercial with Pacquiao and Eric Morales.

The absence of Freddie Roach is not going to change things very much. For one, the two boys have been at the Wildcard Gym for more than 3 weeks and for sure Roach has honed their fighting skills almost to the max by now. And, during training, Villamor has always been by the side of Roach listening, observing and once in a while giving his personal input. Thus, he has a pretty good knowledge on what is needed to give the boys the final preparation that will lead to the victory we all expect.

Roach may not be in Puerto Rico with dela Hoya until late February or early March. So, there is a good chance that he would still be in Cebu as expected. Being the kind of person he is, the odds are he will be in the corner of Z and BoomBoom come fight night on the 24th of February.

But, if plans are changed and Roach can not make the fights in Cebu, I have utmost confidence in the skills of Edito Villamor to take over full responsibilities and make the victories happen.
