Jaca Tangles with Butar-Butar in Montiel-Gorres Undercard for WBO Asia-Pacific Title PhilBoxing.com Sat, 27 Jan 2007 The second undercard for the "Moment of Truth" quadruple titlist turned out to be a duel of ring assassins. WBA No. 14 super featherweight titlist Jimrex "The Executioner" Jaca will be facing WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight champion Simson "The Terminator" Butar-Butar in a fistfight that might end up very well in the first round. In a long distance call, manager Johnson Hatagaol, Butar-Butar's manager confirmed to top-notch promoter Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions that the battle is on for February 24. The Indonesian "Terminator" (15-5-1, 11 KOs) was the nemesis who stopped WBO No. 5 super featherweight fighter Czar Amonsot (17-2-1, 10 KOs) in Tagbilaran City in their rivalry for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title, and take note of this, barely 0:47 seconds in the first round. It was Butar-Butar who also dealt Amonsot his first loss on Nov. 23, 2004 in Jakarta, Indonesia from his then unblemished 8-0-0 record. This deadly prizefighter, who fought 17 of his 21 fights in Indonesia, also dealt first losses to a host of 11 Indonesian boxers from the start of his career on July 27, 2001. Butar-Butar has a record of three KOs on the first round under his belt. "The Executioner" Jaca, a southpaw born in Dumaguete City, was nonetheless Philippine super featherweight champion who bested Leyte?o Samuel Duran in the bid to the vacant title on Nov. 25, 2005. He is currently WBO No. 15 featherweight ranker. He was also the reigning OBPF super bantamweight champion before he lost the belt to Yasuo Kunimi if Kanazawa, Japan on May 30, 2004. But suffering from his loss to Juan Manuel Marquez on his bid for the WBO featherweight title on Nov. 25, 2006, Jaca may need more than just physical prowess to overcome the mental cost of this loss to overcome Butar-Butar on the ring. If he succeeds, he will grab his first WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title after three losing bids for a regional title. If Butar-Butar wins, Jaca would become the second Filipino fighter under his belt. The "Moment of Truth" card would be a moment of possibly excruciating truth not only for Jaca but also for Gorres, Bautista, and Banal in their title bids against four of those deadly ring gladiators they would still have to face. But still the spirit of Filipino fighters is strong. Spectators at Cebu City Sports Complex will see the "Truth" in less than 30 days from today. |
