A PACMAN WIN OVER RIOS WILL FORGE THE PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER DREAM BOUT
By Manny Piñol PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Sep 2013

(mannypinol.com) -- Just when many thought that Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will simply disappear into the horizon following his two successive losses, Floyd Mayweather's easy win over Mexican Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas today has suddenly propped up the Pacman as the only legitimate challenger to the undefeated American champion.
As expected, Mayweather, 36, cruised over the young Mexican contender and further solidified his claim to be the Number 1 Boxer in the world, record wise and earnings wise, with a majority decision victory.
Were it not for the questionable 114-114 score of Judge CJ Ross, the fight was no doubt one-sided in favor of the American champion.
Judge Dave Moretti gave the bout to Mayweather 116-112 and Dave Metcalf had it 117-111.
With Mayweather's victory over Alvarez today, all that is needed to forge the clash of two great boxers the world has been waiting to witness for years now, is for Pacquiao to prevail over Mexican-American Brandon "Bambam" Rios.
Early indications show that the Pacman will most likely dominate the slugger Rios.
When that assignment is accomplished on Nov. 24 in Cotai, Macau, the boxing world will be abuzz again with the prospect of the biggest boxing match in the history of the sport.
All hindrances set aside and resolved, including the vociferous opposition of Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum to even the talk of a Mayweather-Pacquiao bout, the Mega Fight which could earn both fighters no less than $50-M each could happen by 2014.
By that time, Pacquiao will already be free from his promotional contract with Arum and he could engage Mayweather in more viable negotiations which could lead to the real Clash of the Titans.
