?POBLANITO? GARCIA?S FAMILY AND FRIENDS DEMAND JUSTICE FOR HIS MURDER
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 26 Jun 2013

Colleagues, friends and family of boxer Genaro ?Poblanito? have demanded justice from municipal authorities headed by the mayor Teodoro Ixtlapale and Public Safety Director Ofir Picazo Garrido for the cold-blooded murder of the three-time world title contender.
The funeral of the popular fighter who lost to the Philippines Genesis ?Azukal? Servania in an ALA Promotions-ABS-CBN ?Pinoy Pride? fight card at the Resorts World Hotel in Manila on June 2 last year after being dropped twice in the twelfth round l, alleged that Texmelucan had become a ?no man?s land? and that public safety is negligible.
The newspaper Periodico Tribuna reported that they accused municipal police of only arresting people drinking in corner stores allegedly for profit and demanded that they be provided with honest cops.
Poblanito was chased and dragged out of his car, transferred to a van and shot four times in the head behind a church in San Lorenzo.
Garcia won 7 different belts in his career and defeated five world champions and ended his career with a record of 39 wins, 10 losses and 23 victories by knockout.
Presidential candidate from the Texmelucan Citizens Movement, Penaloza No? Hern?ndez, who was to inaugurate a gym owned by Genaro Garcia, said the former athlete was a cheerful character and always showed his desire to overcome adversity.
The inauguration would see the presence of several boxing greats including Maria ?Barbie? Juarez, the WBC female flyweight champion.
Boxer Samuel Gutierrez said his colleague and friend stood out for his dedication and courage to face challenges and called it "a Warrior, with great determination, never slipping in training and was an example to young people since they should do the right thing."
