MALDITAS SUFFER 1-0 HEARTBREAK LOSS TO THAILAND
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 May 2013

The ?Malditas? Philippine women?s football team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to defending champions Thailand in their second Group B match of the Asian Football Confederation Women?s Asian Cup qualifiers in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
An AFC report from Dhaka said Nisa Romyen struck her fifth goal in two games enabling Thailand to edge the Malditas who were considered unlucky to lose with claims that Romyen was clearly offside when she scored the lone goal.
Malditas coach Ernie Nierras aired his frustrations about the poor refereeing and said that the Thai girl was clearly off -side when she scored and the goal should have been disallowed.
The referee was Sachiko Yamagishi of Japan.
It was an excellent performance by the Malditas considering that Thailand is ranked No, 29 in the world and the Philippines at No. 83.
Nisa, who scored four times in Thailand?s 9-0 win over group hosts Bangladesh in their opening fixture on Tuesday, netted the only goal of the game with eight minutes of the first half at the Bangabandhu National Stadium left to play.
The report said that with neither side able to add to the scoreline in the second period the solitary strike from Nisa, her 16th goal in Asian Cup qualifiers following her six in Thailand?s quest to reach the 2008 finals and her five as the South East Asian?s booked their place at the last tournament in 2010, was enough to put the Thais in the driving seat for a place in next year?s finals.
For the Philippines who smashed Iran 6-0 in their opening game to have a chance to qualify they would have to bat host nation Bangladesh by six goals and would have to depend on Iran doing the impossible by beating Thailand.
