NBA - Warriors burn Nuggets to steal homecourt advantage By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Wed, 24 Apr 2013 ![]() SAN FRANCISCO - The Golden State Warriors ended the Denver Nuggets home winning streak at the Pepsi Center Tuesday night to even their best-of-7 series at one game a piece. Final score: 131-117. After a 1-of-5 shooting start, Stephen Curry went to work and had a near-double-double with 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting before eventually finishing with 30 points and 13 assists. Curry rolled his ankle in the third quarter but returned at the start of the fourth quarter to help close out a victory. With Lee sidelined by a torn right hip flexor, Warriors head coach pulled a surprise and started guard Jarrett Jack. The decision to go small paid off as the Warriors torched the Nuggets defense. Jack had 26 and seven assists while Klay Thompson added 21. Harrison Barnes scored 24 with six rebounds as Golden State shot 64.6 percent from the field (51-of-79). Even with the small lineup, the Warriors controlled the boards, limiting the Nuggets to six offensive rebounds and nine second-chance points. No Warrior had more than eight rebounds, but seven players had at least three. Denver center Kenneth Faried, who missed Game 1 because of a sprained ankle, proved to be a non-factor. The Nuggets were hoping Faried's return would help reverse their 10-point disadvantage on the boards in Game 1. But he was rusty, and the same problems that plagued Denver in the opener -- missing too many open shots, getting outmuscled on the glass and giving up open 3-pointers. Ty Lawson and Corey Brewer each scored 19 points for Denver, and Iguodala and Miller each had 18, but the Nuggets were playing catch-up from the middle of the second quarter and couldn't keep up with so many of the Warriors' shots falling, negating Denver's league-best transition game. Steph Curry said during post game interview, "We're a resilient team, said that all year. When guys go down, other guys step up. We showed that tonight. Big road win for us. We've got to go home and protect our home court." Apr. 26, - Friday (Game 3 of 7) @ Oracle Arena in Oakland where this two team will battle again, for the right two play in the second round.
