McCarthy, a decorated Irish standout, brings one of the most accomplished amateur résumés in recent memory. The 16-time National Champion compiled an astonishing amateur record of 200-15, earning widespread recognition throughout Ireland and internationally for his skill, toughness, and championship pedigree. Since turning professional, McCarthy has wasted no time making his mark. He currently stands at 5-0 as a pro and has already demonstrated rapid progression in the paid ranks. After debuting on the respected ProBox platform in a four-round bout, McCarthy advanced to six-round contests by just his second professional fight — a clear indication of both his readiness and the confidence his team has in his ability. Now training out of the world-renowned Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California, under acclaimed trainer Marvin Somodio, McCarthy is sharpening his tools among elite company as he prepares to climb the lightweight ranks. Wise Owl Boxing, owned by Habibi, manages an elite stable of fighters including highly ranked contender Brandon Adams, who is on the cusp of a world title opportunity, as well as multiple Olympians who have successfully transitioned into the professional ranks.
