EXCELLENT RATINGS FOR "PINOY PRIDE XIX"

PhilBoxing.com

It's evident that the "Pinoy Pride" series has captured the imagination of Filipino boxing fans with the latest ratings for the 19th edition staged in Davao City reinforcing the show's standing as a widely watched program both nationwide and internationally with The Filipino Channel particularly in the Middle East.

Headlined by the WBO Intercontinental featherweight championship between Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and Mexico's Jose Ramirez "Pinoy Pride XIX" which was telecast on ABS-CBN's pre-eminent Channel 2 from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon last Sunday, registered a national rating of 17 percent with a highest rating of 30.4 percent in Rural Mindanao.

With the popularity of boxing in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, "Pinoy Pride XIX" turned in its highest ratings in these two regions of the country.

In the Visayas, the fights turned in a rating of 20.2 percent, while in Mindanao, the program generated a 25.5 percent rating.

Mega Manila registered a rating of 12.5 percent while Central Luzon registered 10.1 percent. However, South Luzon reported a high 18.5 percent while the lowest rating of 6.8 percent was reflected in Urban Central Luzon.

The next "Pinoy Pride" to be held at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu is expected to keep the TV ratings momentum going when promising WBO International Lightweight champion Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara battles dangerous Mexican slugger Aaron ?La Joya? Herrera on May 25 in the 20th edition of the series staged by the famed ALA Promotions in cooperation with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.

The popular young Pagara who has a record of 30-2 with 19 knockouts is expected to have a tough time against Herrera whose record of 25-1 with 17 knockouts shows his caliber.

Also on the card is undefeated Genesis ?Azukal? Servania (19-0, 7KOs) who has attracted the attention of Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who was visibly impressed after previewing a tape of Servania. He will clash with Indonesia?s Isaac Junior (20-3-2, 8KOs) over ten rounds while the always exciting brawler Jimrex ?Executioner? Jaca (37-6-3, 21KOs) will defend his WBO Oriental Light Welterweight title against Mexican Jose Emilio Perea (22-2,14KOs) in another of the storied battles between Filipino and Mexican ring warriors.
