NBA - No love for Philly, Nets beat up Sixers
By Rajah Allarey PhilBoxing.com Thu, 11 Apr 2013
BROOKLYN --The Brooklyn Nets pounded the glass and pounded the Sixers as they rolled to a lopsided 104-83 victory Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.
The Nets front court tandem of Brook Lopez and Reggie Evans set the tone for the evening in the first quarter. Lopez dropped 15 of his game high 29 points to go along with seven of his 11 boards while Evans secured his 8th double double of the season in the initial period as he scored 10 and grabbed 10 of his game high 24 rebounds. It was Evans' second consecutive 20 rebound game after also grabbing 20 against the Bobcats last Saturday.
Brooklyn badly outrebounded Philadelphia 67-34 including a 24-8 advantage on offensive boards.
The Sixers found themselves on an uphill climb from the start as they fell behind 31-18 after the opening quarter. Jrue Holiday tried to keep the Sixers in the game as he dropped three triples in the quarter but ended the night with a relatively quiet 15 points.
Philadelphia showed signs of life in the second fighting back to cut the Nets lead to seven 35-42. However, whatever momentum they gained slowly slipped away as the Nets went on a 14-3 run to end the first half and took a commanding 56-38 lead.
Brookyln played like a team gearing up for a playoff run while the Sixers played like a team just playing the season out. The intensity was there for the Nets, the energy wasn't there for the Sixers as they were outhustled and outworked the entire evening.
The Nets improved their record to 45-32 and continue to hold the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 3 game lead over the Chicago Bulls.
