NBA -- Warriors end Wizards' run, 101-93 By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Mon, 25 Mar 2013 ![]() SAN FRANCISCO -- The red-hot Washington Wizards, winners of six of their last seven outings, saw their run come to an end Saturday night when they lost to the Golden State Warriors, 101-92, at the Oracle Arena. Warriors clamped the visiting Wizards by opening with an 8-0 run and never looked back. After leading by just 12 after one quarter, the Warriors blitzed their way to a 58-40 bubble by halftime. Golden State currently sits in sixth place in the Western Conference, just a half game ahead of the Houston Rockets and three ahead of the eighth place Lakers who have made their way back into the thick of the playoff picture after a disastrous start to the season. Games like tonight's - the first of a stretch of five of the next six against non-playoff teams - are games the Warriors need to win, especially after the Lakers stumbled (again) last night to keep them at arm's length. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 35 points on 13-for-18 shooting, but the win may have come at a cost for the Warriors (40-31). With 6:03 left in the game, Curry injured his right ankle as he went down to the ground after a foul by Carl Martin on a fastbreak. Curry, who iced his ankle after the game, hopes to be ready for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. X-Rays came back negative for a fracture. Stephen Curry said during his post game interview... "I'm fine, Don't worry about my ankle I'll get through it like I usually do. I Just have to get my treatment and get ready for Monday." Klay Thompson added 18 points including three from behind the arc. All star David Lee also contributed another double-double effort, scoring 11 points, and snatching 15 boards. Wizards rising superstar John Wall tallied 14 points before calling it a night after picking up his second technical foul and was ejected out of the game in the third quarter. Carl Martin led his squad with 23 points, but fell short to GSW tonight. The high scoring back court of the Golden State Warriors was too much for the short-handed Wizards, not having two key players in tonight's contest. Trevor Ariza with a flu and Bradley Beal with a sprained left ankle. (RM) Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ryan Medida. ![]() |
