Annual Oscar De La Hoya Foundation Christmas Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 9 PhilBoxing.com Thu, 07 Dec 2006 WHO: The Inner City Games Los Angeles, Hollenbeck Youth Center and the Oscar De la Hoya Foundation present the 25th Silver Anniversary of the Miracle On 1st Street Christmas Toy Giveaway. - The toys will be given out by Golden Boy Promotions fighters - WBO Super Bantamweight World Champion Daniel Ponce de Leon, WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Israel Vasquez, 2004 Mexican Olympian Abner Mares, Librado Andrade and fellow fighter Enrique Ornelas. WHAT: 10,000 inner city kids to receive toys, laughter and joy for the holiday. WHEN: Saturday, December 9th, 2006 9:00 AM VIP Reception (Dignitaries, Celebrities, City, State, Government officials, etcetera) 9:45 AM Gifts to the selected 30 families 10:30 AM Parade to kick off start of gift distribution 10:45 AM Gifts to 10,000 kids 10:45 AM to 4:00 PM Santa Claus Lane: Gifts, Refreshments, Entertainment, Celebrity autographs, Sports Personalities, Goody Bags, Interactive kids event 4:30 PM ---- Adjourned WHERE: The Hollenbeck Youth Center, which is located at 2015 East 1st Street. The event will take place between Cummings Street and St. Chicago Street. Kids will be lining up on Cummings Street towards Cesar Chavez Ave. (Additional 5 blocks) HOW: To celebrate this 25th Silver Anniversary, the Inner-City Games and the Hollenbeck Youth Center will join forces with the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation to make this year the biggest and most joyful event ever. Staff, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, dignitaries, and celebrities have all come together to put together a major Christmas program for inner city kids in the Boyle Heights/ East Los Angeles area. Minimum resources and finances will be multiplied to create a humongous Christmas party for inner city kids. HOSTING ORGANIZATIONS The Inner City Games Los Angeles and the Hollenbeck Police Business Council (a.k.a. Hollenbeck Youth Center) with the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation have provided safe and quality after-school recreational, educational and entrepreneurial programs for the east side of Los Angeles. The partnership forged between Hollenbeck, ICGLA and the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation will give thousands of disadvantaged and at-risk youth an opportunity to enjoy a Merry Christmas. |
