NBA - Wizards shock struggling Clippers, 98-90

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Washington Wizards scored a huge upset Monday night when they defeated the road-weary Los Angeles Clippers, 98-90, at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
Martell Webster led the 12-35 Wizards with 24 points and five rebounds. He sank 5-of-6 triples while teammates Garrett Temple and power forward Nene chipped in 15 each. Point guard John Wall added 13 and eight assists.
"This is the first time we beat them since I've been here. We just made plays down the stretch, got a comfortable lead, got a couple of stops and closed it out," said the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Wall who is in the third year of his promising NBA career.
The Wizards pulled the trick by shooting 44 percent from the field (37-of-84 shots) and 58.3 percent from 3-point range (7-for-12). Washington also whipped more assists, 27-21 and had fewer turnovers (12) than the struggling Clippers.
The Clippers played without superstars Chris Paul (kneecap) and Blake Griffin (hamstring).
But Wizards coach Randy Whitman would rather not hear about it and told NBA.com, "Listen, we played enough games this year without players. Don't give me any (talk) about who was here. This is a game we won."
Jamal Crawford spearheaded the Clippers with 28 points on 10-for-20 shooting. Eric Bledsoe had 17 and nine assists while Caron Butler added 15 and six rebounds. (JSM)
