NBA -- Bulls beat Knicks -- again

PhilBoxing.com

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls continued their dominance over the New York Knicks by beating their Eastern Conference rivals for the third time this season following a one-sided 108-101 triumph Friday night at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

After a solid 29-18 start, the Bulls built a 57-36 halftime lead and never looked back. Luol Deng led the charge with another stats stuffer -- 33 points, five rebounds and four assists. The 6-foot-9 Deng made all of his four free throws and swished 13 of 18 field goals, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.

But it was by no means a one-man show as Deng got plenty of reinforcement.

Carlos Boozer tallied 17 points and six rebounds while Rip Hamilton had 14. Taj Gibson and Marco Belinelli contributed 12 apiece and center Joakim Noah finished with nine points and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who shot a blistering 57.4 percent from the field.

The Knicks mounted one last rally in the final period and crept to within 105-98 after a pair of Anthony free throws. But with just 53.4 second left in the clock, the Bulls skated home with the victory.

Chicago improved to 20-14 in the Central Division, just a full game behind the 22-14 Indiana Pacers.

In losing their third in a row, the Knicks were held to just 37-of-90 from the field (41.1 percent). Carmelo Anthony led New York with 39 points, but he struggled migthily against Chicago's stingy defense, making just 14 of 32 attempts.

"I'm the coach. I gotta get us out of this rut," Knicks head coach Charles Woodson told NBA.com as his team dropped to 23-13 after a torrid 7-1 start. (HDS)
