Fletcher and Dawson victorious By Brett Bonetti PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Dec 2012 ![]() Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Jarrod ?Left Jab? Fletcher (13-1, 7 KOs) claimed the PABA Middleweight Title with a well-deserved unanimous points decision over Robbie ?Bad Boy? Bryant (17-2-1, 8 KOs) at The WA Italian Club, North Perth Australia on Sunday night. Fletcher was accurate with his left jab had good speed and footwork all night that had Bryant struggling for answers. Bryant battled hard throughout the fight and did hurt Fletcher towards the end of round 6, but Fletcher recovered well and maintained his advantage over the remaining rounds. Scores after 12 rounds were 117-111, 118-109, 119-109 all for Fletcher. It was a major setback for Bryant who was ranked No. 7 by the WBA going into this fight and had plans to fight for a world title in 2013. But for Fletcher, it was a great comeback after suffering the first loss in his professional career to Billy Joe Saunders in September. Promoter Ty Colman said all is not lost for Bryant despite the loss to Fletcher. "You could put that down as fight of the year for Australia? Coleman said "I think the scorecards were a bit harsh on Robbie, but that's sport and we're already looking ahead" "We can still go for the interim title despite having a loss" Coleman said In the co-main event former two time world title challenger Daniel ?The Rock? Dawson (39-3-1, 26 KOs) looked impressive in successfully defending his PABA Light Middleweight Title with a 4th round TKO victory over Eusebio Baluarte (19-8, 12 KOs) from the Philippines. Dawson looked in great condition and hurt Baluarte in round 1 with a great body shot. Dawson held his gloves high continued to land vicious body shots which saw Baluarte go down three times in round four to force the stoppage from the referee. ?The Rock? was happy with this victory and says he is really building some momentum for a big 2013. Dawson?s trainer Bobby Mayne, author of ?The Art of Boxing? said Dawson fought a smart fight and stuck to the game plan. "We knew Dan?s opponent was going to be an unconventional and unpredictable fighter and our game plan prepared Dan well for this? Mayne said I am happy with this result along with Dan?s manager Mike Altamura, and now believe after this fight Dan should crack into the WBA top ten rankings and into a position to box off for a World Title Eliminator in the US or even better be the mandatory challenger for the Super WBA World Champion Austin Trout." It was a special night for the promoters of CDL Boxing Promotions, Ty Coleman & David Letizia who received an award for "WBA/PABA Promoter of the Year" It was also a farewell to outstanding ring announcer Perry Cale who was presented a special award for his time and dedication to the sport. Perry will be missed. In other action, unbeaten Paul ?Showtime? Fleming (17-0, 12 KOs) got off the canvas from a flash knock down in round 1 to record a unanimous points victory over Balweg Bangoyan (18-7, 7 KOs) from the Philippines. Sam Hogan defeated Michael Dan Rubio via Round 3 TKO and Jonathan Carroll defeated Matthew Seden via a unanimous points decision.
