Green back at home in Perth By Brett Bonetti PhilBoxing.com Tue, 27 Nov 2012 Four Time World Champion Danny ?The Green Machine? Green (33-5, 28 KOs) is back in his home town of Perth, Western Australia following his victory over Shane ?The Mountain Warrior? Cameron (29-3, 22 KOs) at Melbourne's Hisense Arena. Green said he was still feeling sore after the fight and felt like he?s been hit by a bus. After the fight, Green revealed that he had cracked two ribs five weeks ago during sparring with American Cruiserweight Aaron Williams, and almost called the fight off because it was a serious injury. Green said Cameron banged home a big body shot in the first round which made him shudder. "Cameron broke them again with a good body shot in the first round," Green said. "It affected my breathing, but in this game you suck up the pain and deal with it." He also described the IBO World Cruiserweight Title fight with Cameron as one of his most satisfying victories. "I?m only a blown up Light Heavyweight, so to come out with another world title is a great feeling" "I'm happy that I was able to bully a supposed bigger, stronger man, I was the bully in there" Green said The Green Machine says this stirring victory over Cameron would be the perfect final act in a memorable career, but said he would not be making any decisions just yet and instead, now that he is back home, would just chill out and spend time his two kids Chloe and Archie. "I still haven?t had the opportunity to think about retirement" Green said. "I?m still kind of pinching myself at the moment, I didn?t think I?d win one world title, let alone four" Green was full of praise for Shane Cameron. "I hope people realise that Shane couldn't have done any more, "I hope he realises how much respect I have for him" Green said Cameron's manager Ken Reinsfeld, said he likes the idea of Cameron getting back in the ring with Green. "I certainly think it would interest Shane. I know he'd like to have another go at Danny Green," Reinsfeld said. And predictably, the possibility of a clash with Anthony ?The Man? Mundine was brought up again. Green?s trainer Angelo Hyder said "Unless there's something there that makes sense, Danny won't just fight anybody" Click here to view a list of other articles written by Brett Bonetti. ![]() |
