John & Yordan Reign Supreme

PhilBoxing.com

Indonesian World Champions Chris ?The Dragon? John and Daud ?Cino? Yordan both retained their world titles in great fights at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on Friday night.

In a world title fight where ?Someones 0 had to go?, it was undefeated WBA World Featherweight Champion Chris ?The Dragon? John (48-0-2, 22 KO?s) that successfully defended his title for the 17th time against the previously unbeaten Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (44-1, 27 KOs).

The WBA Fighter of the Decade started very well and controlled the fight over the first 5 rounds using his jab and speed. Piriyapinyo got into the fight from round 6, but it was John who was still winning the rounds in a competitive fight.

The determined Piriyapinyo has his best moments in round 7 in what was a great action packed round when both boxers let their hands go.

In Round 8 John & Piriyapinyo continued to let their hands go and were hitting each other with hard shots with neither boxer backing down.

From rounds 9 to 11, John started to take control of the fight once again. In the 12th and final round, it was an exciting end to the fight with both fights landing big solid punches trying to finish the fight until the final bell.

Scores in the end were 117-111, 119-109, 119-109 all for Chris John.

In the Co-Main Event, IBO Featherweight Champion Daud ?Cino? Yordan (30-2, 23 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over a big hearted Choijiljavyn ?Choi? Tseveenpurev (36-6, 24 KOs) to defend his title for the second time.

In what was a highly entertaining fight, Yordan overcame a brave ?Choi? to win by scores of 117-111, 119-110, and 118-110.

Both fighters let their hands go right form the start, but it was Yordan who was landing the cleaner shots and was having success going to the body of ?Choi?.

?Choi? had some good moments in the fight but seemed to get tired down the stretch for Yordan to take advantage, but was still unable to stop the Mongolian.

In other action Arnel Tinampay defeated Yosuke Kirima and Muhammad Meeraj defeated Komgrit Nanakorn both via unanimous decision,

Singapore?s ?Slasher? Syafiq Abdul Samad stopped England?s James Goyder in round 1 in what was both fighters professional debut.

Singapore favourite Mohamad Nor Rizan gained some revenge with a unanimous point decision victory over Wang Xin Hua from China, however Nor Rizan didn?t believe he won the fight and refused to claim his trophy and tried to give it to Hua. In bizarre scenes, it seemed like neither Nor Rizan or Hua were prepared to claim victory.

And in the first bout of the evening Qiu Xiao Jun was impressive in stopping Hwi-Jong Kim in round 4 of their fight.
