John and Piriyapinyo to clash in Singapore By Brett Bonetti PhilBoxing.com Thu, 18 Oct 2012 ![]() Chris John. Current undefeated WBA World Featherweight Champion Chris ?The Dragon? John (47-0-2, 22 KO?s) will defend his belt November 9 against the undefeated Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (44-0, 27 KO?s) when World Championship Boxing returns to Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Marina Bay Sands in Singapore will once again be transformed into a spectacular sports arena for a night of World Championship Boxing action, presented by Dragon Fire with Two World Titles Super Fights. After successfully retaining his title at Marina Bay Sands in May this year, John, the ?WBA Fighter of Decade? will be making an incredible 17th defence of his title. Piriyapinyo is the current WBC Asian Boxing Council Featherweight Champion and is confident he can give The Dragon his first defeat and take his WBA World Featherweight at the same time. The respect for Piriyapinyo is clearly evident with all major organisations rating him highly, and some boxing experts say he is the best boxer in the featherweight division that does not hold a world title. Either way, Someone?s 0 has got to go. Daud ?Cino? Yordan (29-2, 23 KO?s) also returns to Marina Bay Sands to defend his IBO World Featherweight Title against Choijiljavyn "Choi" Tseveenp?rev (36-5, 24 KO?s). Yordan claimed the belt in May at Marina Bay Sands after he was down in round 1, but got up off the canvass and scored the Dragon Fire knock out of the night with a spectacular stoppage of Lorenzo Villanueva. While Choi in his last fight was described as "Britain's answer to the legendary Australian boxer Kostya Tszyu". Choi was the winner of the highly prestigious Prizefighter series tournament in England where he fought 3 times in the same night beating Britain?s top boxers in October 2011. Singapore?s own Mohamad Nor Rizan (5-2, 4 KO?s) will also be on the card in a highly anticipated rematch with Wang Xin Hua (7-4-1) from China. Their last fight ended in a controversial loss to the local Singaporean fighter and Nor Rizan personally requested a rematch and is predicting a knockout victory in this grudge match. Their rivalry began at the Weigh in, May 4th this year when the two young pugilists had to be separated after a lot of trash talking, pushing and shoving. The World?s most famous commentator, the legendary ?Colonel? Bob Sheridan will lead the Dragon Fire commentating team. The Colonel? has called the world?s most famous fights & the majority of Muhammad Ali?s fights, ?The Rumble in Jungle? (Ali vs Foreman) & Asia?s most famous fight to date, ?The Thriller in Manila? (Ali vs Frazier). Dragon Fire is creating history in Asia. Never before have two undefeated boxers with records of 47 wins and 44 wins ever fought. More information can be found at www.dragonfire.com Mr. Mark Juliano, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Marina Bay Sands, said, ?Following the positive response from audiences who watched Dragon Fire: World Championship Boxing live in May, we are pleased to host this action-packed event at the Sands Expo and Convention Center for a second time this year.
