ADRIEN BRONER?S ANTICS - IT?S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, DUMMY!

PhilBoxing.com

Did Adrien Broner make boxing more fun?

Not really, if you know what I mean.

Adrien Broner, the new kid in town in all honesty should be taught proper ethics in boxing and respect for the sports.

At age 22 and growing, it may not be too late.

But then again, who said there is ethics and respect in boxing?

Besides, who is going to teach him?

Golden Boy, Nah!

Al Haymon? Nah, nah, nah!

Broner in the last few days leading to his ?David vs Goliath? match with former Olympian, Vicente Escobedo did everything from tweeting about his love for twinkies and milk shake to faking a proposal to a girl who for one reason or another agreed to a classless ?will you brush my hair? act on the ring before an HBO audience.

For pulling that class-less act, Broner was indeed lucky that the National Organization of Women did not get on his case. What he did was an insult to that girl and to women.

The non-spontaneous ?will you brush my hair? act may have been funny to Broner and Co., at the time it happened, but it was a totally a three X?s act if it was done before the judges of America Got Talent.

There is little doubt that Broner packs a lot of power in his fist. His defense which he obviously partly patterned after that of another boxer infamous for class-less acts in and out of the ring, is not too bad.

And, at the rate Broner is improving inside the ring there is no doubt that he is bound to make lots of cash in the not so distant future.

That is of course, if he does not run into a solid wall like the luckless golden boy from Oxnard, Victor Ortiz.

Even this late, it may not be too late to make Broner tow the line so too speak.

But I am betting none of his Team members, promoters and even those almighty people that hold all the purse strings will dare make him do so.

And, I would not be too surprised if the boxing media will let it pass too.

In fact, those close to Broner may condone and /or simply look the other way when such tasteless arrogance and total disrespect for boxing is pulled by Broner again.
Worse, they may quietly encourage it!

All for the ratings and ergo, the tons of cash that follows.

We all saw what they did just to allow the fight to go in spite of Broner?s tasteless behavior!

They pulled all the strings and dangled lots of cash in the face of Escobedo making it very difficult for the young father to refuse to fight no matter that the odds were too far stacked against him.

At fight night Broner was almost a division north of Escobedo.

Did Escobedo?s health ever come into play? I could only hope so.!

I dare say no one will put a break on Broner?s antics.

Why?

Because, sadly this is boxing, and he who has the money, rules.

Boxing is never clean and any attempt to clean it will clearly result in its demise.

Negative behavior is tolerated as long as it fills the pockets of the powers-that-be.

Like my friend says:- ?It?s all about the money, dummy.?
