OMAR CH?VEZ AND JORGE P?EZ MAKE WEIGHT, READY TO RUMBLE IN TIJUANA, M?XICO

PhilBoxing.com

Mexicans compatriots Omar Ch?vez (left) and Jorge P?ez Jr. made identical weights of 152 lbs (68,950 kgs), ahead of their "Unfinished Business" rematch for the vacant WBC International Silver Super Welterweight title this Saturday night (Sunday Morning Manila Time) at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, M?xico.

The weigh-in ceremony took place yesterday at the Macroplaza Mall in downtown Tijuana.

WBC judges are all from California: Max DeLuca, Steve Morrow and Zac Young. Supervisor is Juan Carlos Pelayo of Tijuana.

The fight will be the second between these popular young fighters with illustrious last names as both warriors are sons of legendary hall of fame world champions, Julio C?sar Ch?vez Sr. and Jorge "El Maromero" P?ez Sr.

Last December in Chiapas, the 24-year-old "El Maromerito" P?ez (31-4-1, 19 KOs) of Mexicali, grabbed the victory in their first fight by scoring a majority decision win over the taller Omar "Businessman" Ch?vez (28-1-1, 21 KOs) in a combat in which, despite of being the much shorter fighter, he displayed good better skills, speed as well as impressive precision.

That night Omar Ch?vez lost his undefeated record and tomorrow wants revenge.

Now with a better training camp and motivation, Omar Chavez will attempt to avenge the only loss he has suffered in his career and to achieve that, the 22-year-old from Culiac?n, Sinaloa, has promised that this Saturday he will give it all in the ring.

Meanwhile, "El Maromero P?ez Sr. shared:

"It will be a fight of many blows. It'll be better fight than the first one. So fans will win too. But obviously, it's my son who is going to win again," said "El Maromero."

The other senior, Ch?vez Sr. had this to say:

"To me, it will be an action-packed fight. Both (fighters) throw many punches and both are good, aggressive boxers. But my son Omar has what it takes to win. This time you will see Omar much better prepared and with a better focus," said the legendary Chavez Sr., one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time.

At the time of the posing for the cameras, there was cordiality between the two fighters; and their parents, Jorge Julio Cesar Ch?vez and Jorge "El Maromero" P?ez, warmly greeted each other.

Jorge "El Maromero" P?ez Sr. (79-14-5, 51KO's) became a 2-time Featherweight World Champion and is in California's Boxing Hall of Fame.

While Julio C?sar Ch?vez Sr. (107-6-2, 86KO's) became a 3-division world champion, super Featherweight, Lightweight and Jr. Welterweight. Last year Ch?vez Sr. was inducted into Boxing's Hall of Fame.

CO-MAIN EVENT: WBA SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT INTERIM TITLE

In co-main event, unbeaten WBA Super Featherweight World Champion Bryan "El Tiquito" V?squez (28-0, 14KO's) of Costa Rica will make the first defense of his world title against experienced 34 year-old Mexican Jorge Lacierva (41-8-6, 27 KOs) of Cuauht?moc, Distrito Federal de M?xico.

Lacierva easily made 129.50 lbs (58,740 kgs), while interim champ V?quez weighted 130 lbs (58,960 kgs) in his second try. In the first try, Vasquez, 24, the first and only Costa Rica boxing champion was one pound over the limit. The second attempt was success.

Referee for the Bryan Vasquez-Jorge Lacierva clash in Tijuana is Romina Arroyo of Venezuela.

While the three WBA judges David Singh, Victor Simmons and Gustavo Padilla are all from Panama City, Panama
